PRIORLEASE / U.S. + CANADA BUYERS
Buying a car out of state starts with the paperwork.
Buyers across the U.S. can inquire through PriorLease. The vehicle's location does not change the need for inspection, an itemized purchase agreement and confirmation of your home state's title, tax and registration requirements.
Before making travel plans
Confirm the VIN, seller identity, current stock check and asking price directly with the owning dealer. Arrange inspection access and review title, history and warranty information. A listing or inquiry does not reserve the car.
- Ask for current photos and an independent inspection arrangement.
- Get the total price and deposit conditions in writing.
- Agree when documents and the vehicle can be released.
Which state handles tax and registration?
Requirements depend on where the vehicle is sold, registered and used, as well as your circumstances. Check with the relevant state motor-vehicle and tax authorities before relying on a seller's estimate. Do not assume taxes disappear because the purchase is out of state.
Pickup or transport?
Ask the dealer what options are actually available, who contracts and pays for transport, and what insurance and handover evidence are provided. Costs and timing require a vehicle-specific agreement; PriorLease does not publish a blanket delivery guarantee.
